Obituary
Harold Philip “Porter” Henke, 96, of Dardenne Prairie, born March 27, 1923 passed away on April 12, 2019. Survived by daughter, Karen (Tom) Ronk, son, John (Julie) Henke, son, Charlie Henke, daughter, Jane (Bob) Mueller. Granddaughters; Amanda (Rob) Simpson, Rebecca Mueller (Andy Herzog), and Jessi Mueller. Two great-grandchildren, Clara and Tommy Simpson; one sister, Dorothy Burkemper. He was preceded in death by his wife, Rita (Hanley) Henke; parents, John and Rose (Duello) Henke; brothers, Cletus and Oscar (Jim); one sister, Marcella Fletcher. Early in his life Porter worked for Wagner Electric in St. Louis and O’Fallon Elevator unloading and delivering grain and coal from rail cars. After his father died, he took over the family farm full time. He was a life long member of Dardenne Knights of Columbus. He loved playing first base for the local baseball team with his brother Jim as catcher. Porter was a simple man who loved Rita, his sweetie, for 67 years. Porter always had an easy smile and kind word for everyone. He was a much loved father, grandfather, and great-grandfather. He will be missed by all who knew him.
