Our Savior Jesus Christ has destroyed death and brought life and immortality to light through the Gospel. Let us remember with thanksgiving what God has done through His servant Lori. Lori Ann Murray was born in St. Louis on March 31, 1960 to parents Allen F. and Shirley M. Rector. She was reborn as a child of God in the waters of Holy Baptism on May 8, 1960 and was confirmed in the Christian faith on Palm Sunday April 7, 1974, both at Christ Memorial Lutheran Church in St. Louis. She was united in holy marriage to Dean T. Murray August 10, 1996. On April 23, 2018, God called Lori home to heaven. She is survived by her mother Shirley, sister Michelle Sliger, and nieces Margaret and Caroline Sliger. She is preceded in death by her sister Linda Sue Rector, father Allen Rector, husband Dean Murray, grandparents Richard and Francis Paul and grandparents Hurley and Mabel Rector. Precious in the sight of the Lord is the death of His saints. Over the years, Lori had a wide variety of jobs: softball umpire for the Khoury League ladies, locker-room attendant at Sunset Country Club, medical records technician at St. Anthony's Hospital, secretary at Concordia Seminary-St. Louis, volunteer usher for the Fox Theatre, marketing director at Purcell & Associates Law Firm, president of Kirkwood Chamber of Commerce, owner and hostess of the Eastlake Inn Bed & Breakfast in Kirkwood, (25 years) owner of Murray's Orchard in Calhoun County, Illinois. She loved running her B&B, canning jelly and salsa, baking pies, selling peaches, apples, and berries from her orchard at the Tower Grove/ Schlafly Brewery/ and Webster Groves farmers markets, gardening, antiquing, needlepoint, traveling, boating, snow skiing, hiking in the Rocky Mountains, synchronized swimming (high school), square dancing, and raising golden retrievers. We think Maybelle, George, Duke, BeBe, and Elle were probably waiting for her in heaven with their paws on the gate, tails wagging. The Lord giveth and the Lord taketh away; blessed be the name of the Lord.
