Obituary
Hannelore (Lore) Marianne Emmi Kurz was born to Charlotte Bader and Alfred Kurz in Stuttgart, Germany on October 25, 1935. She immigrated to the United States in 1953 (she was 17 years old), crossing the Atlantic by ship. She lived in St. Louis, MO, where she met her husband Karl B. Lenzenhuber. They were married August 2, 1958. Also in 1958 Lore became a Naturalized American Citizen. Karl and Lore moved to rural Jonesburg, MO in 1959, where they bought a farm. They built a new home there in 1963 to raise their family and entertain friends. Together they worked to build a life that was comprised of 3 children, an assortment of farm animals, horses, and many types of birds. Lore owned and operated Town & Country Beauty Salon in Jonesburg which she operated for many years, before retiring. Karl and Lore also operated KaLo’s Kennels, where they raised and trained many beloved German Shepherd dogs. Lore raised three children (Ursula, Roland, and Cindy) on their farm and tree nursery, giving the kids a solid foundation in country living and values. Grandchildren Cassandra and Nick, who live in Warrenton, MO spent many happy days and nights at Oma and Opa’s house. Her children and her grandchildren grew up knowing how to laugh, have their hearts and home open to all and play a little poker sometimes. She was quick with a smile and a laugh, and was not shy to offer an opinion when one was needed. Her späetzle and German potato salad were staples at family gatherings, where Lore carried on the German tradition of Gastfreundschaft (hospitality). She and Karl held truly amazing gatherings of friends and family, with lots of food and lots of fun. She maintained a close and lifelong relationship with her sister, Linda Kurz (Lonedell, MO), who also immigrated to the St. Louis area from Germany. She is survived by her husband Karl, children, Ursula Lenzenhuber, Chicago, Roland Lenzenhuber, Jonesburg, and Cindy Kannenberg and husband Mitch from Sioux Falls, SD. She also has five grandchildren, Ginny Moser (Nick) from Yankton SD, Derek Kannenberg, Bismarck ND, Alex Kannenberg, Rapid City SD, Cassandra Lenzenhuber, Warrenton MO, Nick Lenzenhuber, Warrenton MO and special friend Danyelle. She has one great grandson, Carter Kannenberg, Bismarck, ND. She will be greatly missed by all.
