Obituary
David “Dave” Earl Arnold, age 73 years, of Warrenton, Missouri, formerly of Wentzville, passed away September 5, 2017 surrounded by his loving family.  Dave was born May 13, 1944 in St. Louis to William “Bill” and Magdalene (Wilson) Arnold.  He was married on December 7, 1968 in Holstein to Bonnie Sue Flatt, who survives him at their farm.   Dave was a graduate of Orchard Farm High School in 1962 and a graduate of Lindenwood University in St. Charles with a bachelor’s degree in business administration and communications in 1984.   Dave proudly served in the United States Army during the Vietnam War and maintained a deep devotion to his country throughout his life.  A lifelong resident of St. Charles and Warren County, Dave was employed by the St. Charles County Sheriff’s Department as a deputy and detective.  He also was employed as a security supervisor for McDonnell Douglas and later for Boeing where he retired in 2008.   Dave was a member of Faith United Church of Christ in Wentzville where he served as past president of the church board. Dave’s passion was farming and he was happiest on his tractor working the fields or with his cattle.  He also loved supporting his children and grandchildren in their 4-H livestock projects of cattle, horses, poultry and goats in the St. Charles, Lincoln and Warren County Fairs.  In addition, Dave was an avid reader, photographer and bird watcher.  He also enjoyed old country music and western movies.    Survivors include his wife of forty-eight years, Bonnie Arnold; three daughters, Cathleen “Cathy” Martin and her husband, Jeff, of Jefferson City; Christine “Christy” Bruns and her husband, Jamie, of Bellflower; Caroline “Carey” Benne, and her husband, Ryan, of Warrenton; ten grandchildren, Reed Bruns, Evan Martin, Tyler Bruns, Nathan Benne, Aidan Martin, Tate Bruns, Nicole Benne, Elise Martin, Gage Bruns, Nicholas Benne; his mother, Magdalene “Dixie” (Arnold) Hess of St. Peters; six brothers and sisters: Barb McFarland and husband, Robert, of Alameda, California, Alice Anderson and husband, Kevin, of St. Peters, Steve Arnold and wife, Nichole, of Potosi, Diane Wrozier and husband, Ronnie, of St. Peters, Cinda Arnold of St. Peters, Jim Arnold and wife, Sharon, of St. Peters and numerous nieces, nephews and cousins.     He was preceded in death by his father, Bill Arnold.   Visitation will be at Pitman Funeral Home from 1:00 to 4:00 p.m. on Sunday, September 10, 2017. Funeral services will be conducted at 11:00 a.m. on Monday, September 11, 2017 at Faith United Church of Christ in Wentzville. Burial will be held at Jefferson Barracks in St. Louis with military honors following the funeral.
