Charles "Charlie" Vogel passed away on May 10, 2017 at the age of 89. He was the beloved husband of 66 years to Betty Augustia Vogel nee Simpson of Wentzville, Missouri; He is survived by his son, Charles M. (Karen) Vogel of St. Louis, MO; daughter, Debra Vollmer of Wentzville, MO; three granddaughters, Heather Hampshire, Kristin (Jason) Little, Katy (Justin) Sabo, ; three great-granddaughters, Chloe Hampshire, Isabelle Hampshire,Dottie Sabo; two great-grandsons, Espen Little, Charlie Little; He is preceded in death by his father, Christopher Elmer Vogel, mother, Bessie Lee Vogel. Charles was a longtime optician who made eyeglasses for the federal government, including four pairs of glasses for President Eisenhower, President Truman and General Douglas MacArthur. Upon leaving the civil service, Charlie founded Ferguson Optical, which is still in operation 52 years after its inception. In his leisure time, Charlie loved to fish and gamble. Nicknamed "Ferguson Slick", Charlie played blackjack from Vegas to Tunica to St. Louis. He loved to watch the horses run and was fond of almost any form of gambling. The only thing he loved more was his family. He will be sorely missed by all that knew him.
