Glen Garland 86, of Jonesburg, MO passed away on March 22, 2017 at home surrounded by loved ones.Glen was born June 7, 1930 in Vienna, Mo to Glen W. Garland, Sr. and Beatrice Gussie (Kaiser) joining a sister, Mary Ardelia. He lived most of his life in Jonesburg. He married Dorothy L. Christian on December 8, 1951. They shared 65 years together. To this union came 3 children, 7 grandchildren, 18 great-grandchildren and 3 great-great grandchildren. Glen served 2 years in the Marine Corps and 4 years in the Reserves. After which he went to work for Binkley in Warrenton then transferring to Wright City as a foreman. In 1969 he took another transfer to Highland, IL as plant superintendent. The company became known as B-Line and Glen retired from the company in 1992 after 39 years. It was quite the ride. It took them to Illinois, Georgia, California and Nevada. After retirement he and Dorothy returned back to Jonesburg or "home" as they have always referred to it. Glen then became involved in the community. He served on the Board of the Montgomery City Water District where he was very instrumental in the accomplishment of bringing rural water down Highway Y. He had a lot of great stories to share while he was working on that. He also served on the Board of Jonesburg, High-Hill Fire Department, belonged to the Historical Society, The Lions Club, Oak Grove Baptist Church and was a lifetime member of the American Legion. Glen enjoyed boating and camping. He loved pulling his children, grandchildren, many friends and other relatives on skis down the Gasosconade River, later at Carlyle Lake or one of our favorite vacation spots, Lake Wappapello. Grandpa always referred to it as Rockappapello, due to his tender feet. We had many great memories of those times. Glen loved his family and people in general. He had lots of colorful stories to tell from all of his adventures. He will be missed. Glen is preceded in death by his parents, Glen and Beatrice Garland, on grandson, Corey Gruenenfelder, a niece, Linda Sue Houk and a nephew, Johnny Glen Houk. Glen is survived by wife, Dorothy L.
