Spilker, Richard Walter, Fortified with the Sacraments of the Holy Mother Church, died peacefully on September 15, 2016, surrounded by his loving family, a caring staff at Warrenton Manor and Preferred Hospice.
Rich is preceded in death by his parents, Walter and Mae (nee Siemer); the love of his life Mary (nee Matthews) and daughter Karen (Steve) Roden.
He leaves behind his loving children, Kathie (Charlie) Triantafyllou, Brian (Patty) Spilker; baby-girl, Kelly Spilker and his sister, Marilyn Hollenbach.
A much-loved and very proud grandpa of four and poppi of seven, Rich was also a cherished uncle, Godfather, cousin, friend and neighbor.
Rich was a Korean War Army Veteran. He was a hard working delivery man for Interstate Bakeries, Dolly Madison and he delivered cars, retiring at 82. He was also a Pepperidge Farm franchise owner.
Rich was a self-appointed family historian and story teller extraordinaire. He will be remembered for his quick wit, unmatched vocabulary, obscure song lyrics and his ability to catch fish anytime and anyplace. As the founders of the Lake Madness Week Tradition, Rich and Mary created a legacy of love, laughter, good times and family bonds that transcend time.
