Obituary
Gustav William Benhardt Jr. passed away on September 5, 2016 at the age of 80. He is survived by his close companion, Sandra Kilroy; three sons, William (Gretchen) Benhardt, Richard (Catherine) Benhardt and Russel (Traci) Benhard; two brothers, Hank Benhardt and George Benhardt; sister, Kathy Benhardt-O'Neal; six granddaughters, Dawn, Carrie, Jamie, Julie, Blake and Paige; two grandsons, Adam and Steven; six great-grandchildren, Destiny, Willow, Keelan, Nolah, Owen and Emmie. He is preceded in death by his parents, Gustav William and Ellen Louise Benhardt, Sr. and former spouse, Carol Lynn Benhardt nee Bussier. Gustav served our country for over 30 years in the Army and Air National Guard. He retired from active service in 1991and afterward was still active in civil service. He enjoyed the great outdoors and was an avid supporter of the Air Force Museum in Dayton, OH. He was a member of Jefferson City American Legion Post and of the Air Force Museum Foundation. He was a beloved father, husband, brother and friend. "Never give up."
