Frederick W. Seubert, husband of Donna Seubert, died at his home on Saturday, June 18th following a brief illness. He was 86 years old. He was born in St. Louis, MO, on May 20, 1930, son of the late Alice (Walton) Seubert and the late Eugene Seubert. Fred was a mathematician and computer software developer. He began his career at North American Aviation in Los Angeles, CA, spent over 35 years at McDonnell Douglas Corporation in St. Louis, and after his retirement, he taught math at St. Charles Community College in St. Peters, MO. He loved math and computing - they were his job and his passion. He spent many hours of leisure time working on computer programs to solve various math problems and demonstrate the power of the computers he used. He also enjoyed playing the piano and watching vintage movies and television, and he spent many hours working on his own autobiography. But his favorite activity, by far, was spending time with his family. Fred graduated from Ben Blewett High School in St. Louis, MO in 1948, and later earned a bachelors’ degree from Washington University in St. Louis and a Masters in Mathematics from University of Illinois. He served in the U.S. Army from 1955 - 1957 and performed math and computing work as a member of the Army Ballistic Missile Agency in Huntsville, AL. While with the ABMA, Fred worked on the Explorer satellite project, the first U.S. satellite to successfully orbit the Earth. Fred married Donna Marie Jackson on September 29, 1959, and she survives. Also surviving are his son William Seubert, (wife Laurie), O’Fallon, MO, his daughter Alice Seubert Palazzolo (husband Martin), Norman, OK, and his two grandsons Alexander Seubert and Lucas Seubert. Visitation will be held at Pitman Funeral Home in Wentzville, MO on Wednesday, June 22 at 9:00 AM, followed by a funeral service at 10:00 AM. He will be laid to rest at Jefferson Barracks National Cemetery; a brief committal ceremony will be held at the cemetery at 1:00 PM on the 22nd.
