Joan Rankin of Warrenton, MO, died in her own bed surrounded by family on 3-31-16 at the age of 77. Some of her last words were that she was at peace. Joan lived her life with love and compassion. If she noticed o in need, she was always one of the first to reach out to them. She found great joy in making people around her happy, especially her “specials.” She loved being part of her large family’s lives and tried to attend all birthdays, weddings, graduations and holiday celebrations.
Joan was a caregiver in every sense of the word. She cared deeply for her children, grandchildren, great-grandchild, parents, siblings, and many nieces, nephews and cousins as well as her dear friends. She was a great in-law to all and welcomed them into her heart.
Joan was an animal lover all her life and enjoyed many animal companions over the years. She loved her chickens and ducks and they would follow her around while she gardened and threw bugs to them. Her beloved Chihuahuas, Heidi, Benito and Rosi, were her constant companions.
Joan’s relationship with God was very important to her and she prayed every night for each and every one of her “specials.” Her church was a source of love for her and she appreciated their kind assistance so she could attend as long as possible. Her family is grateful for Joan’s neighbors and church friends who faithfully did chores and brought meals. Her adopted daughter, Kathy Narzinski, was devoted to Joan in the last years of her life and helped with her medication every day.
Joan’s memorial service will be from noon to 1:00 PM on Saturday, April 9, 2016. A celebration of her life will follow from 1:30 to 5:00 PM at “Rich’s Place,” 4149 S. Old Hwy 94, St. Charles, MO. Please join us.
