Fortified with the Sacraments of the Holy Mother Church. John L. Slattery passed away on February 6, 2016, at the age of 93. He is survived by his seven children, John P. (Darlene) Slattery of Warrenton, MO, Rosemary Slattery of St. Charles, MO, Anne (Rick) Boedeker of Wentzville, MO, Mary Schneider of St. Charles, MO, Sharon (Ron) Boehmer of Hawk Point, MO, Joseph Slattery of St. Louis, MO and Neal (Carmen) Slattery of Ashland, MO; sister, Beatrice Terbrock of St. Louis, MO; nine grandchildren and eight great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his wife, Ita M. Slattery nee Pettit; parents, John Roderick Slattery and Mary Agnes Slattery nee Dorais; brother, Claude Slattery; seven sisters, Rosemary Slattery, Ester Brockgrietens, Anne Willen, Dorothy Rufkahr, Lucille Selsor, Miram Bierman and Melba Slattery. John was born on a farm in Dardenne, Missouri. He later joined the Marine Corps at the age of 19 and served in WWII in the South Pacific. Upon his return, he married Ita Pettit and they raised their family of seven children in St. Charles, Missouri. John had a love of sports and golfed, hunted and bowled most of his life. He was a pitcher and member of St. Louis and St. Charles Amateur Baseball Halls of Fame. He had a fabulous memory and enjoyed telling stories. John's strong faith carried him throughout his long life. He will be missed by many.
