Obituary
Pearl Pauline Harwood, 96, of Henley, Mo. went home to her Heavenly Father Sunday, Nov. 1, 2015 at Capital Region Hospital in Jefferson City surrounded by her loving family. Pauline was born Aug. 9, 1919 at Novinger, Mo. She was the daughter of Melvin H. and Pearl J. (Mellinger) Amick. She graduated from Mexico High School in Mexico, MO. She was married to Charles W. Harwood in Vienna, Mo. on Feb. 7, 1942, who preceded her in death on March 16, 1993. She was a great cook who loved her family, enjoyed growing flowers and loved to give them away. She was an active member of Friedens United Church of Christ and Women's Fellowship. Survivors include three sons: Charles W. Harwood, Jr. (Lorraine) of CA, James A. Harwood of Henley, MO and Robert B. Harwood (Susie) of FL and one daughter, L. Jane Sommerer (Lloyd) of Henley, MO; one sister, Caroline Alexander of Dixon, MO; two sisters-in-law: Charlotte and Carol Amick of Jefferson City, MO; eleven grandchildren, fifteen great grandchildren and one great-great-grandchild. In addition to her parents and husband, she was preceded in death by one son, Joe Don Harwood; four brothers: Melvin “Dee”, Paul (and wife Opal) and Bill Amick; as well as brother-in-law Winston Alexander. Visitation will be from 11:30 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. Sunday, Nov. 8, 2015 at Friedens United Church of Christ in Brazito, MO. Funeral services will be Sunday, November 8, 2015 at 12:30 p.m. officiated by Rev. . Wendell Stoneburner at Friedens United Church of Christ in Brazito, MO. Graveside services will follow at East Lawn Memorial at Mexico, MO. Memorial contributions are suggested to Friedens United Church of Christ or Calvary Lutheran High School. Arrangements are under the direction of Pitman Funeral Homes at Wentzville, MO.
