Obituary
David Paul Brockfeld, 83, of Truesdale passed away Monday March 16, 2015. David was born May 15, 1931 to Paul and Genevieve nee Eickenhorst Brockfeld in the family home in Truesdale, MO. He was united in marriage to Sally Ann Boeger on January 17, 1959 and they spent 38 years together. He enlisted in the United States Navy in 1949 and retired in 1972 as a lieutenant commander in the Naval Reserve. He saw active service during the both the Korean and Vietnam Wars. David was an Eagle Scout and life long Boy Scout serving as an Explorer Scout Leader, Cubmaster, Assistant Scoutmaster, and Scoutmaster. He taught school for many years first in the Washington School District and then in the Fort Zumwalt School District. David also operated the family business in Truesdale selling firearms and working as a gunsmith. He was civic minded and held every elected position in the City of Truesdale including City Marshall, Alderman, and Mayor. He was also a member of Humphrey-Schwerdt VFW Post 2180 where he was a past Post Commander and American Legion Post 122. David is survived by his children, Paul and wife Teresa (Sean, Steven, Olivia), Warrenton; Gretchen, St Charles, Missouri; Karl (Auric, Jacob, Michael) Cole Camp, Missouri ; Erika McClure and husband Terry (Seamus, Ainsley, Harper), Arlington, Virginia; and Rudolph and wife Gretchen (Viola), St Paul, Minnesota. He was preceded in death by his parents, his sister JoAnn Hoffa, and his wife Sally. Visitation will be at the Pitman Funeral Home, Warrenton, from 4 pm to 8 pm on Friday, March 20. The funeral will be Saturday March 21 at 11 am at Pitman Funeral Home with burial in the Warrenton City Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, memorials can be made to Boy Scout 22 or Humphrey-Schwerdt VFW Post 2180.
