Gerald Herman Virge Schiermeier was born on February 17, 1941, to Harry John Schiermeier and Josephine Emilia Schiermeier (nee Jurgensen). He was the oldest of two siblings. Gerald (Jerry) lived on the Schiermeier family farm, near Foristell, Missouri, his entire life. Jerry is survived by his wife, Joyce (nee Schuerman); daughter, Jocelyn (Coates); son, Jason; sister, Jolene Molitor; and grandchildren, Madison, Harrison, Ryan, Jackson, Kennedy and Spencer. He married Joyce Schuerman at Zion Lutheran Church in Harvester on October 23, 1965, and they were blessed with 49 years together. Jerry was a life-long member of St. Paul's Lutheran Church. Growing up, Jerry was actively involved with the local 4-H chapter and church Walther League. He also served in the U.S. Navy as an electrician aboard the U.S.S. Darby. For seventeen years, Jerry worked for the Missouri Department of Transportation; however, he took great pride in being a life-long farmer. He was a member of MOSAC, and enjoyed working on and restoring antique tractors and threshing equipment. In addition to his love of farming, he enjoyed playing his guitar and building model railroads, constructing elaborate, detailed communities that the grandchildren loved to play with. Jerry passed away at home on Thursday, October 30th. He will be dearly missed by all who knew him.
