Edward J. Zender Jr. passed away on October 22, 2014. Born in Chicago on November 2, 1935, he was the beloved husband of Lois Zender nee Claybaugh recently of Zephyrhills, Florida. He is survived by his children, Michael E. (Kim) Zender; Sue A. (Dan) Weiss, and James T. Zender, as well as nine grandchildren: Eric, Zach, Jimmy, Tom, Mickelle, Jessica, Jeremy, Jeff, Jared and eight great grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his mother, Grace M. Zender nee Wood, father, Edward J. Zender Sr.
From the day he married Lois in 1958, family was his first and primary joy. Vacations that included boating with family were extra special, and his love for racing boats shone through from adolescence to adulthood. An industrial engineer by trade, his passion for electronic gadgets and toys was transparent. In healthier days, Ed was the life of the party. No one ever doubted the sincerity of his friendship and the depth of his commitment to family and friends. Despite a midlife handicap, he was a four time champion at his Florida golf club. To Ed, one arm was not a handicap, it was an adaptation that became his expertise. We will hold all of these memories close in our hearts. There is no way to lessen the sorrow of those who remain, but his peace and contentment are extraordinary blessings to the Zender family.
