Sylvia A. Ritzel, 46, passed away peacefully on October 21, 2013 at her home in Wentzville with her loving family by her side. Sylvia is best remembered for her heart for those who where hurting. Her love for God was obvious in her worship and sharing Jesus with others. Her enthusiastic personality was always accompanied with a positive attitude and a relentless smile.
Sylvia Ritzel was born at Sewart Air Force Base (Smyrna,TN) and the daughter of Harold and Bridget Harris. After graduating from Bartlett High School (Anchorage, Alaska), Sylvia continued her education and received a BS in Biology at Southern Illinois University (Edwardsville, IL), a MS in Management from Webster University (St. Louis, IL) and a Doctorate in Management from the University of Phoenix (Phoenix, Az). In 2001, Sylvia married Tim Ritzel where together they raised three children Annie, Heather, Amy and Sylvia’s dogs (“Harold” and “Rhema”) at their home in Wentzville, MO.
Dr. Ritzel is best known for her expertise in organizational leadership and for building collaborative relationships in the workplace. She began her career at the American Red Cross (St. Louis, MO) as a Viral Serology Instructor/ Laboratory Technician then in 1998 as an Account Executive working for Swank Health (St Louis, MO) for eight years specializing in on-line healthcare education. She continued her career as an Executive Director for CAM Foundation, Inc., (Herman, MO); Director of Communications for Volunteers Impact Prosperity, LLC, (St. Peters, MO) and as a consultant for The Standards for Excellent Institute (Baltimore, MD) since 2010. During her career, she was a member of the Board of Directors for the FreeWay Foundation (Bridgeton, MO), Pillsbury College and Seminary (St. Louis, MO) and TRM, Inc (Wentzville, MO).
Sylvia leaves her beloved Huband Tim and their daughters Annie Waln, Heather Heller and Amy Eickelman and grandchildren Cailey, Caiden, Kylee, Easton, Ava and Alex. She also leaves her parents, Harold and Bridget Harris (Bellville, IL), sisters Crystal Starks (Anchorage, AK) and Meldia Finley (Goffstown, NH); her brothers Walter Harris (Charlotte, NC) and Aubrey Harris (TN). Sylvia also leaves several aunts, uncles, nieces and nephews.
The wake will be held on Friday on October 25, 2013 between hours of 5:00pm – 7:00pm with the funeral commencing thereafter at 7:00pm at Faith Christian Family Church, 17350 Veteran’s Memorial Pkwy, Wright City, MO 63390. Her loving husband, Pastor Tim Ritzel, will be presiding over her service. Memorial gifts in Dr. Sylvia Ritzel's memory can be made to Faith Christian Family Church.
