I am still in shock , disbelief at the passing of one of the sweetest ,funniest, dedicated men I have ever met.Not only was Mel dedicated to his beautiful wife Mary and their children & grandchildren. He was a dedicated servant of our fire community and first responders. He was a pillar of our small town of St.Paul,MO. where I believe he was raised as a child and loved his Church family at St.Paul Church as well. The Picnic won\'t be the same without you Mel you my friend will be missed by many .Godspeed

We are very sorry for your loss. Your family is in our thoughts and prayers.
I had the honor of serving with Mel when I volunteered with the OFallon Fire Protection District. In Mel I found someone who was truest passionate about his family and also passionate to be a firefighter. Mel always had a smile and a kind word. I am truly honored to have had a chance to serve with him and Ian’s blessed to have him as a friend. I pray the his memories of times shared will serve as a sense of peace in the days to come

I had the privilege of working with Mel for all of my 34 years as a paramedic/Battalion Chief. He was always professional and kind. My deepest condolences to Mary and the Emge family, as well as his many friends. May your memories comfort you at this sad time. I\'m so sorry for your tragic loss and my prayers are with you.
Mel was a High School friend who never stopped being one. He was a very likeable guy and so easy to get along with. Never boastful, just a constant steady guy. I was shocked when he married my best friend\'s sister! I was amazed he reached for the stars and grabbed one. What a pair those two made together! After being out of touch with Mel for too long, I was glad that we reconnected. I\'m sorry that I wasn\'t able to see him more. He is gone way too soon, but leaves behind many awesome memories for his family, co-workers, and friends--of which I am glad to be considered one. My deepest condolences to Mary and the family. May you feel the Lord\'s comforting presence in the midst of your grief.

I was so sorry to hear about the passing of Mel. I was a St. Charles County Fire and EMS dispatcher for 20 years before retiring in 2018. Mel would stop in now and then to say hello and he was so nice and always had a smile. I will miss him and my sympathy goes out to his family, colleagues and friends.

Condolences to all the family of this most wonderful man. I got the honor meeting Mel and the entire “BACK TO MIDNIGHT” band when I was 17. Spent many years after that creating a friendship with Mel and Mary. Mel always welcomed new comers with open arms, and constantly made you feel part of the band. Even firing me from playing tambourine! My first encounter with both of you was over breakfast one very early morning in your kitchen after playing music all night. It seems like yesterday. Words don’t express our sorrow. We prayed he’d get better but God needs new angels also , so we had to let him fly. Dean and I will forever hold you in our memories, and to the entire Emge family, our hearts go out to you. A gifted, talented, loving, giving and true man has been taken way to soon. Mel, you will be missed. Rest in heavenly peace friend. Dean and I will unfortunately not be able make the wake due to being out of town. That saddens our hearts. Hugs to you Mary

so very sorry to hear of Mel\'s passing. Such a kind man, Mel will be missed by many
So sorry to hear this! I have not seen Mel in a long time but we were friends in grade school and high school. I still remember vacation with him and his family was the first time I left the state of Missouri. God be with him and Mary and the rest of the family at this time.
